Graha Shanti Puja

Introduction

As the name suggests Graha Shanti Havan is a Puja and Havan conducted for the purpose of peace in dwelling. It has to be performed in nine parts. This is because there are nine planets and each one has to be prayed to. This Yagya is a perfect combination of a prayer to all the nine planets; in order to bless our homes with happiness and harmony. This Havan requires the study of the horoscopes of the main individual. If there are any negative effects i.e. doshas of a particular Graha then they too can be cured through this Graha Shanti Havan.

Importance and Significance of Graha Shanti Puja

The Graha Shanti Havan is primarily aimed at reducing or eliminating the negative effects of the planets that are not in our favour as per our horoscopes. This makes life smoother and more easy-going. Because it is a 'Graha Shanti Puja', it helps to create harmony amongst all the members who shall take shelter there. Major problems in our lives are caused due to these doshas. They help determine the levels and frequency of peace, harmony, health and wealth in our lives. This Havan is extremely beneficial to spread positivity in the environment.

Benefits of Graha Shanti Puja

The foundation is the most important thing in any construction. It is like an infant’s life. If not fed (physically, emotionally and spiritually) with the right nutrients at that stage, the infant can grow up to be unhealthy.

• Likewise, a proper Bhoomi Puja can bring luck and good fortune to the building, whether you may build it for yourself or to sell further.
• One good aspect is that the Puja can be customized to suit the type of land as well as the intended construction.
• It is essential to do this Puja to seek the blessings of Mother Earth; to ensure protection and well-being of the person who occupies the building.
• Through the Bhoomi Puja we pray to the Vastu Purush and invoke his blessings. It also helps remove the various types of Vastu Doshas.
• The Griha Pravesh Puja is a part of the Vastu Shanti Puja and is done in order to appease the Gods and planets so that the owner of the house is blessed with good fortune and all the planets i.e. Navagraha and Vastu God is also worshipped so that no harm can be caused either to the home or it’s inmates.

Occasions to do a Bhoomi Puja

• As discussed above, a Bhoomi Puja performed to show reverence to the land before you sort of work commences on it.
• Even farmers conduct a Bhoomi Puja before they start tilling the land.
• Also, if the land has been acquired for building a house, bungalow, building or commercial premises the Puja is done before the start of any sort of construction activity.

Bhoomi Puja Vidhi (Procedure)

The Bhoomi Puja vidhi mentioned here is a generalized procedure followed while performing the Puja. But, since we assist our clients perform the Puja as per their community and language's rituals, traditions and customs; the procedure or vidhi for Bhoomi Puja will vary accordingly.

• This Puja more often than not happens in the north-east corner of the plot.
• Other Bhoomi puja samagri includes ghee lamps, oil lamps, flowers, turmeric, kumkum, camphor, coconuts, fruits, rice grains, supari (betel nuts), Panchamrut (a mixture of milk, ghee, honey/sugar, curd and Tulsi leaves), sweets and samagri for the Havan Kund.
• A customary dig takes place which is generally done using a spade by the karta of the Bhoomi Puja. It’s only after this ‘dig’ that actual construction can begin.
• The Bhoomi Puja Vidhi starts with the usual Ganesh Puja. Then, in accordance to the Vastu Vidhi, a Navagraha Puja is done. The Bhoomi Pujan is incomplete without a Havan.
• Other major rituals in the main Bhoomi Pujan include firstly taking a Sankalpa followed by shatkarma, Devi poojan, bhoomi abhisinchan, pran pratishtha and manglik dravyasthapana.
• After all this we do the anushthan, sing the aarti and repeatedly seek apologies.

Bhoomi Puja Muhurat

It is very essential to consult a Pandit before deciding on a Muhurat to do the Bhoomi Pujan. But if we were to see some ‘by-default’ dates, then the Hindu months of Shravan, Kartika, Paush and Margashirsha are considered to be the most auspicious. Bhoomi Puja should also be avoided during periods like Adhik Maas, lunar month and post sunset. Also make sure that the muhurat doesn’t fall during sutak and shraadh. The given muhurat is the standard auspicious date/timing to perform the puja. One can also consult our expert pandits for more shubh muhurat for Bhoomi Puja as it can be performed throughout the year. Some of the auspicious dates for Bhoomi Puja in 2016 are :

• January 2016 –14th, 18th and 25th
• February 2016 – 10th, 11th, 22nd and 24th
• March 2016 – 19th, 21st and 31st
• August 2016 – 4th, 5th, 15th, 20th and 24th
• November 2016 – 5th, 14th, 21st and 23rd
• December 2016 – 2nd, 7th and 19th
